Memorial services for Lemmy Kilmister were held over the weekend, with a cast of rock and metal’s elite from around the world venturing to Los Angeles to celebrate the Motorhead frontman’s legacy. Supergroup Metal Allegiance played a show at the Whiskey A Go Go in West Hollywood, Calif. after the memorial service and brought up some special guests from Slipknot, Sepultura, Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee and more to help pay tribute to the fallen rocker.
Already consisting of a powerhouse lineup in Mike Portnoy, Alex Skolnick and David Ellefson, Metal Allegiance has seen a wealth of musicians join in on the fun at other shows. With a bursting pool of talent present at the services, it was no surprise to see other rockers onstage Saturday night (Jan. 9). Slipknot’s Corey Taylor fronted the band while former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo led the charge behind the kit as the band tore through a frenetic cover of “Ace of Spades”, in tribute to Lemmy. Taylor’s bark fits the song perfectly and Sepultura’s Andreas Kisser adds a dual guitar attack to thicken the sound (Joe Divita, Loudwire.com)
